Bursaries By Study Field : Engineering

The Access Trust provides financial support to students studying at FET College in the Western Cape. Bursaries are for full-time post-matric courses at Western Cape Public FET colleges only for: NQF Levels 4 – 5, N4-N6 business and N1-N6 engineering; engineering practicals if the applicant has a technical matric or has completed at least N2 in engineering.

The Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation aims to stimulate, celebrate and reward innovation and entrepreneurship in sub-Saharan Africa. The Africa Prize encourages ambitious and talented sub-Saharan African engineers from all disciplines to apply their skills to develop scalable solutions to local challenges, highlighting the importance of engineering as an enabler of improved quality of life and economic development. Crucial commercialisation support will be awarded to a shortlist of innovative applicants through a six month period of training and mentoring. Following this period of mentorship, finalists will be invited to present at an event held in Africa and a winner will be selected to receive £25,000 along with three runners-up who will be awarded £10,000 each. Applicants must be individuals or groups of no more than three people. Individual applicants must be citizens of a country within sub-Saharan Africa and currently reside there. For teams of two or three, the lead applicant must be a citizen of a country within sub-Saharan Africa and currently reside there. Applicants must be engineers who can provide a letter of support from a university of research institution.

The Foundation offers high school scholarships to learners who demonstrate the potential to excel academically, and who have the desire to fully engage in available opportunities. Apply during Grade 12 School year or first year university.

Altech offers a number of bursaries to persons who wish to engage in tertiary study with a view to obtaining undergraduate degrees through to postgraduate research. Currently, Altech is not offering bursaries for technikon studies. This is a structured practical training programme available only for Ventilation Engineering and Mine Surveying, supplemented by in-house and/or industry training courses leading to an industry recognised certificate and a substantive appointment with the company. Trainees receive an allowance while training.
