The Foundation offers high school scholarships to learners who demonstrate the potential to excel academically, and who have the desire to fully engage in available opportunities. Apply during Grade 12 School year or first year university.

The CSIR bursary programme provides financial support to tertiary students with a view to permanent employment at the CSIR. The programme supports both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Mentorship opportunities as well as vacation work are also offered by the CSIR.

The FNB Fund Bursary Programme provides tertiary education access for learners who are academically capable but financially disadvantaged.

Investec provide a diverse range of financial products and services to a niche client base in three principal markets, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. Bursary applications are invited from young people who aim to study full time towards an undergraduate university (academic) degree in Commerce (Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Investments and Finance), BCom Informatics, BSc Computer Science, BSc Information Technology, BIT-Bachelors of Information Technology, BIS-Bachelor of Information Science, Business Science, Science and Mathematics, Engineering or Commercial LLB.

The aim of Mintek’s Undergraduate Bursary Programme is primarily to ensure a steady supply of trained and highly skilled technical people to meet a major portion of Mintek’s operational, research, and development manpower intake needs, and also to provide appropriately-skilled graduates to the broader South African minerals and metallurgy sector. Mintek provides bursaries for undergraduate degrees, Honours degrees and BTech diplomas.

The national bursary programme of the Institute dates back to 1935. Since then our students, among them Mr. Nelson Mandela, who won a bursary worth £120 in the late 1940s, have served the country in almost every field of endeavour.

Sasol Post Graduate Bursaries are awarded for full-time University study in Science and Engineering, at Masters or Ph.D Degree level.

The University offers a range of scholarships to international students who show exceptional academic potential and are starting their studies at the University of Sheffield in September 2014. Eligibility and Award Criteria: •You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your undergraduate studies in September 2014 in any of the departments listed above. •You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes. •The scholarships will be awarded automatically - no application is required in first or subsequent years. •The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of studies. Award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of 60% overall average mark. •The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction

Veterans and Friends of the August 1968 sit-in at UCT have made an annual award available towards research costs of one or more UCT students. The award supports creative research initiatives by UCT students investigating innovations which could help to reduce poverty and social exclusion in South Africa. The title of the award celebrates the spirit of the sit-in, which defended the appointment of Archie Mafeje to UCT academic staff against the apartheid government’s demand to withdraw the job offer on grounds of his race.

The Sugar Industry Trust Fund for Education (SITFE) was launched in 1965 as a private sector initiative. In its 48-year history, SITFE has provided bursaries to over 9 700 students, financed school building projects, given assistance to tertiary institutions and has worked closely with specialist educational organisations to improve overall education standards.
